The JL&C Marble Coffee Table is a piece built around the conviction that the quality of the materials should be immediately apparent — not dressed up or obscured by surface treatment or decorative excess. The marble top is the first demonstration of that principle. Each slab is hand-selected at JL&C’s Shanghai facility before any cutting begins, assessed for vein pattern clarity, tonal consistency and surface integrity to ensure the finished top meets the visual standard that a centrepiece piece in a luxury living room, hotel lobby or villa lounge demands. Natural stone is not uniform — no two slabs are identical — and the selection process at JL&C exists specifically to ensure that the variation within each slab is a considered feature rather than an inconsistency.
Once selected, the slab is cut to the client’s confirmed dimensions and shape — round, oval, rectangular, square or custom profile — and the edge is profiled in-house to the specified detail: straight-cut, bevelled, eased, half-bullnose or waterfall. The surface is finished to polished, honed or leathered specification depending on the aesthetic and maintenance profile required by the project. A professional-grade stone sealer is applied across the full surface prior to packaging, providing a treated barrier against staining and moisture penetration without altering the marble’s natural colour depth or vein character.
The stainless steel base completes the piece with equal precision. Stainless steel is selected as the base material for this coffee table for specific reasons: it is corrosion-resistant across a wide range of interior environments; it holds a surface finish — brushed, polished or powder-coated — with exceptional consistency and durability over time; and its structural properties allow slender, refined leg and frame profiles that carry the visual weight of a heavy marble top without the visual bulk that cast metal or solid wood bases of equivalent load capacity would require. The base geometry — leg count, profile, footprint and finished height — is reviewed against the top dimensions at the design stage to ensure the final proportional relationship reads correctly in the intended space.
