Product Overview

Engineered Comfort, Configured to Fit — Modular Sofa Sets Built for Every Space

Every sofa set in this collection is built on a kiln-dried solid hardwood frame — the structural foundation that determines how a sofa performs over its entire lifespan. Unlike frames built from finger-jointed timber or MDF panel, our solid hardwood frame resists the gradual joint relaxation that causes sofas to creak, sway, and lose their original shape under daily use loads. The frame is reinforced at all corner joints and fitted with a sinuous spring and interlaced webbing support system that distributes seated load evenly across the seat base — preventing the localised compression that leads to permanent sagging in the centre of a cushion.

Seat cushions are filled with high-resilience (HR) foam at 40–45 kg/m³ density, which maintains its original profile through years of regular use. Back cushions are foam-wrapped and fibre-filled — a combination that gives a softer, more relaxed feel at the back while retaining enough structure to avoid the fully collapsed appearance of loose-fill-only back cushions. All cushion covers are removable via concealed zips for cleaning or re-covering. Upholstery options span premium fabric in 30+ colours, genuine leather, and high-grade faux leather — all available in custom Pantone-matched tones for project orders.

The modular architecture of this sofa set is its most practical feature for interior designers and project procurement teams. Individual seat modules, corner modules, armless middle sections, and chaise end pieces are each produced as independent units that connect via hidden joinery, allowing any configuration — 2-seater, 3-seater, L-shape, U-shape, or fully bespoke — to be assembled, reconfigured, and adapted as room requirements evolve. Module counts, overall dimensions, and configuration geometry are all specified at the order stage and confirmed in a technical drawing before production.

Solid Hardwood Frame

All-hardwood frame construction — kiln-dried for dimensional stability, corner-reinforced, and built to support the load cycles of residential and commercial daily use without joint relaxation.

True Modular Architecture — Reconfigurable Layout

Each module is an independent structural unit connected via concealed joinery. Configure as 2-seater, 3-seater, L-shape, U-shape, or custom layout — and reconfigure as spatial needs change.

Custom Seat Depth, Back Height & Arm Configuration

Seat depth (front-to-back), back height, arm height and width, and overall module width are all adjustable — ensuring the set is proportionally correct for your specific room and seating context.

HR Foam Seat Cushions + Fibre-Wrapped Back Cushions

HR foam at 40–45 kg/m³ seat density with structured fibre-fill backs — the combination delivers immediate softness, lasting support, and a cushion profile that holds its shape in use.

Made to Your Specification

Six Parameters That Define Your Sofa Set — All Configurable Before Production

A hotel lobby sofa set has fundamentally different requirements from one specified for a private villa living room or a residential penthouse. Seating depth, back height, arm style, and module count all need to be calibrated to the room dimensions, the users’ proportions, and the surrounding interior palette. Our factory accepts full custom specifications across all six parameters below — every order is confirmed in a technical drawing before a single component enters production.

Layout Configuration & Module Count

Define the overall footprint and seating arrangement to match your floor plan. 2-seater (loveseat): approx. 160–180 cm wide 3-seater: approx. 220–240 cm wide L-shape: one long run + one return arm or chaise U-shape: central sofa + two flanking returns Fully custom: any module count or geometry Modular connector system: concealed joinery, removable for reconfiguration

Cushion Fill & Firmness Grade

Choose the foam-to-fibre ratio that matches your comfort requirement. Firm seat: HR foam 45–50 kg/m³ (hotel lobby, commercial seating) Standard seat: HR foam 40–45 kg/m³ (residential/hospitality standard) Soft seat: HR foam 35–40 kg/m³ with down-blend topping (premium residential) Back cushion: foam-wrapped fibre (standard) or loose fibre-fill (softest feel) Memory foam seat topper available as premium option

Leg Profile & Finish

Complete the piece with a base that coordinates with your interior metalwork. Solid wood legs: tapered square, straight square, turned round Metal legs: hairpin, flat bar, disc base, box section Leg finishes: natural oak / walnut stain / brushed gold / brushed silver / matte black / satin chrome Leg height: 8–18 cm (affects seat height; confirmed in drawing)

Custom Modular Sofa Sets

Why JL&C Furniture

Full-Cycle In-House Production — Frame, Foam, Upholstery, and Dispatch Under One Roof

The quality of an upholstered sofa set is determined at every stage of its production — from the density of the timber in the frame joints, to the spring-and-webbing configuration under the seat, to the tension of the upholstery pull on the arm corners. JL&C Furniture manufactures every component and performs every production stage in-house at our Shanghai factory. Frame construction, foam cutting, spring and webbing installation, cushion filling, upholstery cutting and application, and final quality inspection are all conducted by our own team. There are no subcontractors at any stage, and no quality dilution through intermediary supply chains.

This integrated production model is especially important for modular sofa sets, where dimensional tolerance across modules must be precise enough that they sit flush and connect cleanly when assembled on-site. Our technical drawing confirmation process — completed before any order enters production — ensures that every module dimension, connection point, and upholstery specification is formally agreed in writing. Pre-dispatch photography and quality reporting are included as standard for all orders. We supply individual designers on single-set commissions and hotel procurement teams on programmes of 50+ sets, with identical quality standards applied at every scale.

What Our Clients Say About JL&C Furniture Custom Modular Sofa Set

“We specified a custom U-shape sofa set for the lobby lounge of our boutique hotel — deep seat, low back, tight upholstery in a warm camel fabric. JL&C produced a technical drawing for sign-off before production, kept us updated throughout, and delivered on schedule. The modules connected seamlessly on-site and the upholstery was consistent in tension and colour across every section. Exactly the result we needed for a centrepiece piece.”

Hotel Interior Design Director · Boutique Hotel Group, Abu Dhabi

“I specified a custom L-shape sofa set for a high-end residential client — non-standard seat depth of 70 cm, pillow arm, full loose cushion back, in a custom sage green bouclé fabric. JL&C matched the fabric reference accurately, executed the unusual seat depth without issue, and the finish quality on delivery was genuinely premium. My client was exceptionally pleased and has already recommended the supplier to two of her friends.”

Senior Interior Designer · Luxury Residential Studio, Singapore

“We furnished the living areas of 12 villas with custom sofa sets from JL&C — each set in a slightly different configuration to suit the individual room layouts. Factory-direct pricing made genuine hardwood frames and HR foam viable within the project budget. All 12 sets arrived well-packaged, undamaged, and ahead of the installation schedule. The sets have held up perfectly through two years of full residential occupancy.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "modular" mean in the context of this sofa set, and what configurations are possible?

A modular sofa set is one in which the overall form is composed of multiple independent seat units — each structurally complete on its own — that are connected together via concealed joinery to form a larger configuration. In practice this means that the same set of components can be arranged as a 2-seater, a 3-seater, an L-shape, or a U-shape depending on how many modules are included and how they are oriented. Individual modules can also be separated and used independently if a room layout changes. Standard configurations are 2-seater, 3-seater, L-shape, and U-shape; fully custom configurations — including curved transitions, peninsula ends, and extra-wide central sections — are available on request.

What is HR foam and why is it specified for the seat cushions?

HR (high-resilience) foam is a polyurethane foam produced with an open-cell structure that allows it to compress under load and return reliably to its original shape. At 40–45 kg/m³ density with an ILD of 28–35, it provides a seat that feels supportive without being hard, and maintains that feel after years of daily use. Standard foam — at lower density — compresses permanently over time, creating a sunken appearance in the centre of the seat. HR foam is the industry standard for quality residential and hospitality seating; we offer a range from 35–40 kg/m³ (softer, residential lounge) up to 45–50 kg/m³ (firmer, commercial high-traffic) depending on the intended use.

Can I specify the seat depth and other dimensions to suit my room?

Yes. Seat depth (front-to-back) is one of the most commonly customised dimensions — standard is 60 cm, but deeper seats (65–75 cm) are regularly specified for lounges and living rooms where a more reclined, relaxed posture is preferred, while shallower seats (55 cm) are sometimes specified for more formal reception seating. Overall back height, arm height, arm width, module width, and leg height are all similarly adjustable. All custom dimensions are confirmed in a technical drawing before production commences.

What is the difference between a tight back, semi-attached cushion back, and full loose cushion back?

A tight back means the back upholstery is pulled directly over the frame and filling without any separate cushion — the result is a tailored, neat appearance with minimal visual bulk. A semi-attached cushion back uses cushions that are sewn or connected to the back frame but present as individual cushions — offering a slightly softer visual while maintaining a structured look. A full loose cushion back uses fully independent scatter-style cushions that sit against the back frame and can be removed, repositioned, or replaced — this gives the most informal, relaxed appearance. The choice is primarily aesthetic; comfort at the back is comparable across all three options when foam density and depth are held constant.

How is the sofa set packaged for international shipping?

Each module is individually foam-wrapped with corner protection, placed in a dedicated reinforced export carton, and loaded onto wooden pallets for container shipping. Seat and back cushions are vacuum-compressed and sealed in separate protective bags within the same carton as their module, or in a dedicated cushion carton for larger sets. All packaging is designed for sea freight in standard 20-foot or 40-foot containers. We ship FOB Shanghai as standard; CIF to destination port is available on request.

Can I request a sample or material swatch before committing to a full order?

Yes. Fabric and leather swatch cards covering our full standard palette can be produced and dispatched for review before upholstery selection is finalised. For full sofa set samples — particularly for large batch hotel or development orders — we can produce one complete module for review and client sign-off before the full set enters production. Sample production lead time is 15–20 business days. Sample cost is partially credited against the confirmed full order. Contact our team via WhatsApp (+86-13611769803) or the enquiry form to initiate.

What is the frame made from, and why does frame material matter for a sofa set?

The frame is constructed from kiln-dried solid hardwood — the same timber specification used in commercial furniture for hotel lobbies and high-use residential spaces. Frame material is one of the most important quality determinants in an upholstered sofa because it is completely invisible in the finished piece: there is no way to verify frame quality by looking at a finished sofa. A solid hardwood frame resists the joint relaxation and deflection that cause sofas to creak, rock, and lose structural integrity over years of use. Finger-jointed softwood and MDF-panel frames — which are common in lower-cost furniture — typically begin to show joint movement within 3–5 years under regular use. Our hardwood frame is designed to outlast the upholstery.

What upholstery options are available, and can I specify a custom colour?

Three upholstery families are available: premium fabric (woven, bouclé, chenille, or linen blend — 30+ standard colours), genuine leather (full-grain or semi-aniline — natural tones and custom), and high-grade faux leather (microfibre or PU — 20+ colours). Custom colour matching via Pantone or RAL reference is available for all three material types. Custom fabric colours typically apply to orders of 3 sets or more and may add 5–7 business days to standard lead time. Contrast piping, two-tone colour splits, and contrast scatter cushion covers are all available as additional specification options.

What arm styles are available and how do they affect the look of the sofa?

Four standard arm styles are available. The track arm is a squared, low-profile arm with a flat top surface — it gives the sofa a clean, linear appearance and is the most widely specified for contemporary interiors. The slope arm is similar but with a slight downward angle toward the front — subtly lighter in appearance. The rolled arm curves outward and downward at the front, creating a softer, more traditional silhouette. The pillow arm is a full, padded arm with a cushion-like appearance — the most informal and visually generous of the four options. Arm choice significantly affects the overall character of the piece and should be considered alongside the back profile and fabric selection.

Can the leg height be adjusted, and does leg height affect seat height?

Yes to both. Leg height is directly additive to seat height — a longer leg raises the seated position proportionally. Our standard leg height range is 8–18 cm; seat height is specified as a combined dimension (seat cushion compressed height + leg height + frame base) and confirmed in the technical drawing. Leg profile and finish are specified independently of leg height. Taller legs — particularly in metal hairpin or flat-bar profile — give the sofa a lighter, more elevated visual character; shorter legs create a lower, more grounded appearance.

What is the minimum order quantity and how does bulk pricing work?

MOQ is 1 set — there is no minimum order quantity for standard configurations and upholstery colours. Custom fabric or leather colour matching typically requires a minimum of 3 sets due to minimum material order requirements from our upholstery suppliers. For bulk orders of 10 or more sets — such as hotel room programmes or villa developments — factory-direct pricing advantages become more significant; contact our team for a project-specific quotation. Lead time for large batches is confirmed at the quotation stage.

Is this sofa set suitable for commercial use in hotels, serviced apartments, or hospitality lounges?

Yes. The specification — kiln-dried solid hardwood frame, sinuous spring and webbing support, HR foam at 40–45 kg/m³, and hospitality-grade upholstery options — is directly appropriate for high-use commercial environments. For hotel lobby or lounge applications where daily use by multiple users is expected, we recommend specifying the firmer HR foam grade (45–50 kg/m³), a genuine leather or high-grade faux leather upholstery (for easier surface cleaning), and metal legs over solid wood (for resistance to floor moisture and scuffing). We regularly supply to hotel groups, serviced apartment operators, and hospitality interior designers.
