Product Overview
Solid at the Frame, Precise in the Cushion, Finished by Hand
The JL&C Dining Chair is built around a kiln-dried solid wood frame — the structural foundation that determines how a dining chair performs not on the day it arrives, but after two years of being pulled out, sat in, leaned back against and pushed under a table multiple times every day. Every leg-to-rail joint is machined to precise tolerances, assembled by hand and reinforced at the corner blocks with structural adhesive, giving the frame the racking resistance that dining chairs demand from their construction and that glued-only or dowel-only frames consistently fail to maintain through extended use.
The seat and back are cushioned with high-resilience (HR) foam — specified by density and firmness rating for a dining application that requires a chair to be supportive through a full meal, comfortable through an extended dining occasion, and dimensionally stable when not in use. Unlike standard polyurethane foam, which progressively softens and loses its seat profile within months of regular use, HR foam maintains its original shape and recovery rate across tens of thousands of compression cycles. The seat cushion is built to a firm-to-medium density appropriate for dining; the back cushion mirrors this specification with a profile that provides lumbar support without the excessive softness that causes back panels to sag under regular use.
Over the foam and frame, fabric upholstery is applied by hand by JL&C’s in-house team of skilled upholsterers at our Shanghai facility. Every panel is cut to seam alignment, applied with consistent tension across the frame, and finished with concealed fixings and clean welt lines throughout. The completed chair is inspected before packaging to confirm that the fabric sits correctly on all faces of the frame with no pulling, wrinkling or misalignment at any point. The result is a dining chair that does not simply look well-made — it is built to remain so through years of daily residential or commercial use.
